Gris: Game time doesn’t worry me
Supa Strikas midfielder, Gris, who is considered to be among the best graduates from the Supa Strikas Academy, believes his time will come to shine for the Men in Red. We stole a few minutes of the funky-haired man’s time to talk about his dreams.
Supanews: You are not very well known at Supa Strikas. What do you think you need to do to show the fans that Gris is in town?
Gris: It’s not easy to crack the first eleven when you are still new to the team. Even the fans are not used to you. It’s up to me to show both Coach and supporters that Gris is in the team, starting from training. I know it’s going to take a while, but I’m up to the challenge.
Competition is tough in the team. Do you think you can crack it?
Yes! It’s a great challenge to be playing alongside Cool Joe, Twisting Tiger and Dancing Rasta. I’m working hard at each and every training game… so I’m confident that I’ll make it. And if not, I will make sure I double my efforts to show Coach that I’m ready.
Would you like to play for another team in the Super League?
No! I love Supa Strikas and I’ve learned a lot since coming up the ranks. I don’t think I will leave the team. I have to first showcase what I can do before thinking about leaving a team I dreamed of playing for since I was a kid.
You played a couple of games this season. Does having the best midfielders in the country - Rasta, Cool Joe and Tiger - make your job easy?
Yes, but it takes 100% dedication from me to show the guys that I’m up to the job. I’ve learnt a lot from these guys, especially how to be alert at all times, communicating with your teammates and the need for teamwork.
Do you think you guys will retain the Super League title?
Yes! We’ve been playing great football and winning games. Despite some of us not playing regularly we’re still behind the team as that’s how its works. We all want to be part of that celebration so we motivate whoever is picked to represent the team and defend our cup.
Who inspires you and the team when things get tough on the field?
Definitely my captain, Dancing Rasta. He motivates players on the field no matter how hard the situation is. Rasta gives us hope that we can bounce back and I think everyone in the team is inspired by that.
Thanks Gris and good luck!
Thanks my brother!
